UPDATE: Linn County, OR – The Oregon State Patrol has issued a press release stating that the , identified as Logan James Irwin, 24, of Tangent, who was reportedly hit and killed on Highway 34 on July 6, is alive.

The OSP said in the statement, “Correction: The Oregon State Police learned this morning that Logan James Irwin did not succumb to injuries sustained from being struck by a vehicle on Sunday, July 6, 2025, near Tangent. Mr. Irwin is currently receiving medical care at a local hospital. OSP has contacted Mr. Irwin's family to express our deep regret for the reporting error and any additional pain it may have caused. We sincerely apologize for this error.”

Linn County, OR – One person was injured in an auto-pedestrian accident on Highway 34 in Linn County early Sunday, according to the Oregon State Police.

OSP identified the victim as Logan James Irwin, 24, of Tangent

The deadly accident happened on July 6, 2025, at 4:09 a.m., on Highway 34, near milepost 6.

OSP said Logan Irwin entered the eastbound lane of and was hit by an eastbound Subaru Outback, driven by Edward Thomas Peterson.

Irwin was injured and is currently receiving medical care at a local hospital.

Peterson was not injured and remained at the scene.

The highway shut down for about three hours during the investigation.

The crash remains under investigation.
