Pedestrian Killed in Yakima Crash on W. Nob Hill Boulevard and S. 23rd Avenue

Yakima, WA.- A pedestrian died days after being involved in a collision in Yakima earlier this month, according to the Yakima Police Department.

The incident happened near W. Nob Hill Boulevard and S. 23rd Avenue at about 2:54 a.m. July 3.

Police reported that a Yakima resident was driving a 2014 Hyundai Sonata westbound on W. Nob Hill Boulevard when he hit a pedestrian crossing the roadway from a parking lot.

The victim, a 32-year-old Kennewick man, was taken to MultiCare Memorial Hospital in Yakima then later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.

On Thursday July 17, police reported that the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries.

The driver, identified as Mauricio Arechiga, 39, of Yakima, is charged with vehicular homicide following the incident.

According to police, Arechiga had earlier been arrested on DUI charges.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
