One driver was reportedly heading the wrong way when they collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle

Apache Junction, AZ.- One person was killed in a traffic collision that happened on Friday night in Apache Junction, according to the Superstition Fire and Medical District.
The wreck took place on US 60 near Goldfield Road just before 9 p.m. July 18.
One driver was reportedly heading the wrong way when they collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
Two parties had to be extricated from the wreckage.
Authorities reported that one person died in the incident.
One other party was transported to a hospital with major injuries.
Impairment is suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The crash led to the closure of the westbound lanes of US 60 in the area as crews worked at the scene.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
