San Diego, CA – The authorities have released the name of a person who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 163 in San Diego's Mission Valley neighborhood earlier this month.
The Medical Examiner's office identified the deceased person as Mutsuo Yamaguchi, a 78-year-old resident of San Diego.
The deadly crash happened at about 8:49 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, on northbound State Route 163 just north of Interstate 8.
According to the police, a black Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound on SR-163 when it veered to the left and collided with a black Toyota Prius and a silver Prius
The Prius overturned after the crash, leaving the driver and passenger with severe injuries.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 8:50 a.m. on northbound State Route 163 just north of 8 Freeway.
The driver of a black Nissan Sentra traveling northbound on SR-163 reportedly veered left and collided with a black Toyota Prius and a silver Prius. The force of the impact caused the silver Prius to overturn.
The driver and passenger in the silver Prius sustained severe injuries.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel.
The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.
It was unclear if the occupants of the other vehicles were injured.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be contributing factors.
Authorities are investigating the crash.
