Gary Thomas Dead, Kyler Rinck and Cori Mack Hospitalized after Multi-Car Crash on Highway 30 at Milepost 39 in Columbia County

Columbia County, OR – The Oregon State Police have identified the person killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 30 in Columbia County Wednesday afternoon as Gary Ronald Thomas, 90, of St. Helens.

The crash was reported at around 3:59 p.m. on July 23 on State Route 30 near milepost 39, the police said.

Reportedly, a gray Chevrolet Cruze driven by Thomas was traveling eastbound on the highway  when it veered into the westbound lane colliding with a westbound purple Saturn SL1 and a blue Toyota Camry.

Thomas was airlifted by Life Flight to an area hospital with serious injuries, where he later died.

The driver of Saturn SL1 Kyler Warren Rinck, 20, of Longview, WA, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

61-year-old Cori Marie Mack of Rainier, who was operating the Camry, was transported to an area hospital in a private vehicle with minor injuries.

The highway was impacted for about two hours as officers investigated the scene.

No additional information about the crash was provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
