Sumner, WA – Two people were killed in a wrong-way car crash in Sumner early Sunday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The deadly collision happened at about 3:00 a.m. on July 27 on State Route 410 near Valley Avenue.
According to WSP, a driver was heading north in the southbound lanes of Highway 167 before exiting onto westbound WA-410 and heading east in the westbound lanes. The wrong-way driver then collided head-on into another vehicle in the westbound 410 near Valley Avenue.
Two people in the second vehicle suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The wrong-way driver was injured and was taken to a local hospital. The driver was arrested for DUI Vehicular Homicide.
The westbound lanes of SR 410 were shut down for several hours due to the crash.
