Passenger Injured in El Centro Car Accident on North Eighth Street and Broadway
El Centro, California (July 21, 2022) – A passenger was hospitalized after two vehicles collided Tuesday morning at an intersection in El Centro, as per a local news source.
The crash was reported just before 11 a.m. at North Eight Street and Broadway.
According to El Centro police, the crash involved a Nissan Murano and a GMC Arcadia.
Police said 71-year-old Roberto Romero was driving the Murano west on Broadway when the car collided with the Arcadia heading southbound on Eighth with 20-year-old Karla Mancera behind the wheel.
The Arcadia hit the Murano on the passenger side near the front door. The force caused the Murano to overturn onto its roof and skid until it struck the south curb of Broadway, where it overturned back and landed on its wheels.
The Arcadia stopped at the intersection with crash damage on its front end.
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported a passenger in the Murano to El Centro Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
Romero advised investigators that he saw a yellow light and attempted to clear the intersection, while Mancera said she had a green light.
Investigators closed Broadway near the crash scene until around noon.
