Santa Barbara, Calif. – One person was injured in a hit-and-run crash near an intersection in Santa Barbara Sunday evening.
The incident occurred at about 6:40 p.m. on January 21 near the intersection of North Milpas and West Canon Perdido streets, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Reportedly, a parked vehicle was struck by another moving vehicle, and the suspect vehicle fled the scene. The owner of the parked vehicle was attempting to get into the vehicle when it was struck.
The victim suffered moderate injuries and was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
The victim was not immediately identified.
Officers located the suspect, 23-year-old Leslie Hernandez, on the 700 block of Spring Street.
The District Attorney's Office filed criminal charges against Hernandez including five misdemeanor counts: driving under the influence of alcohol while causing injury; hit and run causing injury or death; resisting arrest; refusing to take a blood-alcohol test; and driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.15% or greater.
An investigation is underway.
