Bakersfield, Calif. – One person was hospitalized with major injuries after a bicycle accident that happened near Cottonwood in Bakersfield on Friday morning.
At around 11:59 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a bicycle accident at E Belle Terrace and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
A semi-truck is reported to have struck a bicyclist in unclear circumstances.
The bicyclist suffered major injuries and was transported to Kern Medical Center for treatment.
Police believe the truck driver most likely did not feel they hit someone, so they didn't stop immediately. He was later contacted near Fairfax Road, where they stopped
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
