Santa Maria, Calif. – Authorities are investigating a major injury that occurred in Santa Maria on Friday evening.

The 7:44 p.m. accident happened on Ray Road near Highway 166, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The officers who arrived at the scene found two vehicles that were involved in the accident. The events preceding the collision, however, were not immediately determined.

One person suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
