CHP said an SUV and a Subaru were involved in the head-on collision on Highway 299
Blue Lake, CA – One person was injured in a crash that took place near Blue Lake on Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place on Highway 299 at the Blue Lake Road onramp at around 6:15 p.m.
CHP said an SUV and a Subaru were involved in the collision. The report said that the vehicles collided head-on.
One of the drivers was extricated and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The condition of the hospitalized party was not specified.
The other driver reportedly tried to flee the scene on foot but was caught and taken to hospital for a blood draw to test for drunk driving.
The roadway was shut down for nearly one hour as authorities investigated the incident.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
