A Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on Byron Highway south of Clifton Court Road when, for some reason, it veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a southbound Kia sedan.

Contra Costa County, calif. – One person was killed and two others were injured in a multi-vehicle traffic collision in Contra Costa County Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened at about 6:25 p.m. Saturday, December 30 on Byron Highway near Clifton Court Road.
According to the CHP, a white Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on Byron Highway south of Clifton Court Road, when for some reason, it veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a southbound Kia sedan.
The driver of the Kai sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no one else in the Kia at the time of the crash. According to the investigators, the victim was not properly restrained at the time of the crash.
As per the CHP, the Chevrolet spun out of control and eventually came to a stop over the Centerline facing north and blocking both lanes. The Chevy driver was seriously injured and was airlifted to John Muir Walnut Creek.
A passenger in the Chevy was also taken to the hospital for injuries.
Two other vehicles, a Hyundai Elantra and a Hummer, traveling behind the Kia and the Chevy respectively, struck debris on the roadway. No one else was injured in the incident.
Alcohol or other drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

Conta Costa County, Calif. – At least one person is dead following a three-vehicle traffic collision on Byron Highway in Contra Costa County Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 6:29 p.m. the California Highway Patrol received reports of a head-on traffic collision on eastbound Byron Highway, just west of Holey Road.
Contra Costa County Fire Department crews responded to the scene and located a white pickup truck, a black Hummer H2, and a white Chevrolet Silverado. The Chevy was blocking both lanes of the Highway and one of the vehicles was in a ditch with its airbags deployed.
According to the CHP, at least one person was killed in the crash. It was not immediately if anyone else was injured in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
