One Killed in Riverside Car Accident on Riverside (91) Freeway near Van Buren Boulevard
Riverside, California (July 27, 2022) – One person was killed and several others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision early Wednesday morning in Riverside, according to California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened just before 12:48 a.m. on Riverside (91) Freeway near Van Buren Boulevard.
The vehicles collided in the eastbound lanes of the freeway and the impact caused two of them to overturn. Another vehicle burst into flames following the crash and the fire spread to the brush at the back of an apartment building in the 8700 block of Indiana Avenue.
One person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two other parties suffered critical injuries while another two had minor injuries.
The patients were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The roadway was closed as crews cleared the debris from the scene and extinguished the fire started by the crash.
An investigation into the deadly collision is ongoing.
