Daniel Phillips Arrested after Fatal Fresno Crash at Belmont and Maple Avenues
Fresno, California (February 7, 2022) – Daniel Phillips, 29, was arrested after a fatal crash that left one person dead and another critically injured in East Central Fresno on Monday morning.
According to authorities, the collision happened when Phillips failed to stop for a red light at Belmont and Maple avenues and collided with another vehicle.
Phillips was driving on Belmont Avenue and crashed into a vehicle traveling north on Maple Avenue.
Authorities said Phillips tried to flee the scene but was chased down and detained by witnesses.
Authorities arrived at the scene shortly after and arrested him.
The two occupants of the second vehicle were taken to a hospital, where a man in his 70s succumbed to his injuries.
The woman in the vehicle was hospitalized with critical injuries.
The Fresno Police Department is investigating the collision.
