CHP says a person was struck by a vehicle in the northbound lanes of the highway in unclear circumstances

Bakersfield, Calif. – A pedestrian died after being struck by a car on Tuesday evening in Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal pedestrian accident happened on Highway 99 near Olive Drive at about 6:35 p.m.
CHP says a person was struck by a vehicle in the northbound lanes of the highway in unclear circumstances.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The identity of the deceased person was not immediately disclosed.
Information about the involved driver was not immediately provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
