Marion County, Ore. – Douglas Shane Johnston, 43, of Aurora was killed in a rear-end collision on Interstate 5 in Marion County early Friday morning.
According to the Oregon State Police, the wreck happened at around 12:49 a.m. on January 19 on Interstate 5 near Milepost 278.
The preliminary investigation indicated a southbound Ford F-150, operated by Johnston, left the travel lane and struck the rear of a parked Freightliner and trailer on the shoulder of the roadway.
Johnstone was pronounced dead at the crash site.
The occupants in the Freightliner were not injured.
The interstate was impacted for approximately 4 hours during the on-scene investigation.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
