Two vehicles traveling on the freeway got into a rear-end collision near Avondale Boulevard exit

Avondale, AZ – One person was killed in a collision in Avondale on Tuesday night, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The incident took place on Interstate 10 near the Avondale Boulevard exit at around 9:30 p.m.
According to the report, two vehicles traveling on the freeway got into a rear-end collision.
Both drivers stepped out of their vehicles and as they stood in the middle lane, they were hit by a third vehicle.
One of the victims died at the scene.
The driver of the third vehicle was hospitalized with minor injuries.
It's unclear whether the second motorist was hurt.
The freeway was shut down for hours as authorities investigated the crash.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
