Phoenix, AZ – One person was killed and two others injured in a collision in Phoenix on Sunday morning, according to the Department of Public Safety.
The wreck took place on Interstate 17 near Northern Avenue at about 1 a.m.
Troopers were reportedly investigating a suspected DUI driver who had stopped their vehicle in one of the northbound lanes when two other drivers collided in the backup.
As the troopers worked to clear the crash scene, another driver traveling at a high rate of speed slammed into the vehicles.
One motorist was killed in the crash.
Two other people, including a juvenile, were taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
