1 Dead after 2 Big Rigs Collide on Interstate 10 near Chiriaco Summit, Riverside County
Riverside County, California (August 12, 2022) – CHP is investigating a deadly, fiery big rig crash that happened Friday afternoon near Chiriaco Summit in Riverside County.
The collision occurred at about 4:53 p.m. on westbound Interstate 10.
CHP said a big rig crashed into the back of another big rig for unknown reasons. One of the semis erupted into flames.
Authorities said one person died in the accident.
Traffic on westbound I-10 was backed up for miles following the collision. Investigators advised motorists to expect traffic to remain at a standstill for an hour or two to allow the rig and debris to be cleared from the scene.
