1 Dies After Richmond Car Accident on 80 Freeway near Hilltop Drive
Richmond, California (August 31, 2022) – One person was killed after a multi-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning in Richmond, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The accident occurred around 2:48 a.m. on eastbound 80 Freeway, just east of Hilltop Drive.
Per the report, three vehicles collided for unknown reasons, including a white pickup truck and a silver SUV. The SUV front was on its wheels and stuck on the pickup truck's rear following the collision.
Firefighters and medics responded to the scene to attend to the crash victims. One party was confirmed dead at the crash site. Another person was transported via ambulance to Kaiser Permanente Richmond Medical Center for treatment.
The deceased person's name and the injured party were not immediately released.
A SigAlert was issued, closing all lanes following the accident.
Tow trucks were requested to remove the vehicles from the accident location.
Further details regarding this incident were not provided.
