1 Dies in Cajon Pass Crash on Highway 138 near Interstate 15
Cajon Pass, California (August 24, 2022) – Authorities are investigating a deadly multi-vehicle collision that happened Wednesday afternoon near the Cajon Junction in the Cajon Pass.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pileup was reported at about 4:54 p.m. on eastbound Highway 138 about two miles west of the Interstate 15, near Lone Pine Canyon Road.
At least four vehicles were involved in the collision, including a pickup truck that overturned onto its roof, trapping one person.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and pronounced one person dead.
It was not clear if the other parties involved were injured.
Caltrans blocked westbound traffic at Lone Pine Canyon Road and eastbound traffic at Hess Road to allow an investigation to be conducted and as they cleared the scene. The highway was expected to be reopened at around 10 p.m.
