Shafter, CA – A motorcyclist is dead after colling with a truck on Highway 43 near Shafter early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly collision happened at about 3:47 a.m. on Central Valley Highway (Highway 43) at Burbank Street.
According to CHP, a preliminary investigation showed that a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado truck was going southbound on Highway 43 at around 55 MPH.
At the same time, a rider on a 2025 Honda motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Burbank Street, the intersection with Highway 43, at a slow rate of speed.
Authorities said the rider failed to make a complete stop at the stop sign at the intersection, and rode directly into the path of the Chevrolet truck, leading to the collision.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike following the crash.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
The accident is under investigation.
