1 Person Killed in Cerritos Crash on 605 Freeway near Alondra Boulevard
Cerritos, California (August 20, 2022) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday evening wrong-way collision that killed one person in Cerritos.
The deadly accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on 605 Freeway near Alondra Boulevard.
A witness told the California Highway Patrol officers that a dark-colored sedan was driving the wrong way in the freeway's southbound lanes when it crashed head-on into a silver-colored pickup truck.
Sadly, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the collision, the CHP closed the right two lanes of the southbound 605 Freeway just south of Alondra Boulevard and the Alondra Boulevard off-ramp.
More details regarding the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.

- Avoid blocking crosswalks while waiting to turn
- Parents and drivers should follow school policies and procedures for picking up and dropping off students
- Stop for school buses and watch for students rushing to catch or exit the bus.
- Parents should teach the children walking or riding to and from school how to cross the road safely, such as looking both ways before crossing the street, crossing at marked crosswalks, and using available sidewalks.
