43-Year-Old Dixon Man Killed and 44-Year-Old Fairfield Woman Critically Injured in 80 Freeway Car Accident near Merchant Street in Vacaville

Vacaville, California (January 10, 2022) – One person died and another was seriously injured in a Monday morning car crash in Vacaville, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly collision happened on westbound Interstate 80 Freeway, between Alamo Drive and Cherry Glen Road, at about 5:05 a.m.
CHP said a 43-year-old Dixon man was driving a Toyota Sienna van westbound on Interstate 80 when he slammed into the back of the trailer that was being towed by a big rig.
The van rolled over after the impact. As the van was overturning, the driver and the passenger were ejected from the vehicle.

The van driver was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, where he was declared dead. His name has not been released pending notification of family.
A 44-year-old Fairfield woman, who was a passenger in the van, was also taken to the same hospital with major injuries.
