Kings County, CA. – One person was airlifted to the hospital after a collision involving a semi-truck that happened Thursday morning in Kings County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The wreck occurred around 10:11 a.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway to the southbound State Route 41 connector road.
A semi-truck and a Ford F-250 pickup truck were involved in the crash.
The pickup truck got wedged underneath the big rig's trailer, trapping one person inside.
Kings County firefighters responded to the scene and freed the victim.
An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene to airlift the seriously injured person to the hospital for treatment.
The southbound 5 Freeway was closed to allow the helicopter to land and take the patient.
The cause of the crash was not immediately established, but an investigation is ongoing.
