According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 11:15 a.m. on Highway 247, also known as Old Woman Springs Road, between Linn Road and Ornelas Lane.

Yucca Valley, CA. – One person was severely injured, and a dog died in a two-vehicle collision that happened Thursday morning in Yucca Valley.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 11:15 a.m. on Highway 247, also known as Old Woman Springs Road, between Linn Road and Ornelas Lane.
A silver Saturn Ion and a black 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited were involved in the accident.
First responders found the Saturn off the roadway and partially in a desert embankment with major front-end damage.
The Jeep was overturned onto its side with undercarriage damage and a torn soft top.
One person sustained a head trauma and internal injuries. The patient was taken to Yucca Valley Airport by ground ambulance and subsequently airlifted to the hospital.
A dog in one of the cars died in the crash. Animal Control responded to the scene to pick up the deceased dog.
Investigators closed the southbound lanes of the highway at Oleta Road following the collision.
