1 Hospitalized after El Centro Big Rig Accident on Highway 111 at Evan Hewes Highway
El Centro, California (July 16, 2022) – One person was seriously injured in a big rig accident that happened Friday night on Highway 111 in El Centro, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The accident happened at about 8:43 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway at E Evan Hewes Highway.
A heavy-duty tractor-trailer hauling 25,000 lbs of an unknown load was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it slammed into three other cars, including a blue Nissan Versa and a black Toyota Corolla.
A female party got trapped inside one of the cars that was crushed in the accident.
One person was severely injured in the collision. The patient was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.
CHP officers are investigating to determine the cause of the accident.
