One Person Seriously Hurt in Highway 74 Collision at Cahuilla Way in Palm Desert
Palm Desert, California (June 22, 2022) – One person was seriously injured after two vehicles collided on Highway 74 in Palm Desert at about noon Wednesday, authorities say.
The crash occurred at about 11:48 a.m. on eastbound State Route 74 west of Cahuilla Way at mile marker 89.
According to the CHP, a semi-truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 74 when its trailer rolled and hit a white Dodge Ram, causing the Dodge to catch fire. First responders found the driver still trapped inside the Dodge and the vehicle smoking.
CHP officials say the driver sustained major injuries and was transported by airship to a nearby hospital.
No further information regarding the collision was immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
