UPDATE – The Los Angeles Medical Examiner's Office has identified the 19-year-old man who died in a crash triggered by a wrong-way driver in Los Angeles as Jefferson Coreas-Lazo.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, Jefferson was trapped in the wreckage and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jefferson's passengers – a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, were hospitalized with major injuries.
Los Angeles, CA – A 19-year-old man was killed and three other people, among them two children, were seriously injured early Sunday morning following a three-vehicle crash in Los Angeles.
The deadly accident happened at about 1:50 a.m. on the westbound 10 Freeway at Overland Avenue near the Palms Community.
According to the CHP, a 51-year-old Los Angeles woman drove the wrong way on the Santa Ana (10) Freeway and triggered a three-vehicle crash.
Reportedly, the woman was driving a 2024 Telsa eastbound in the westbound lanes of the freeway and collided head-on with a 2016 Toyota operated by a 19-year-old man Maywood man, according to the CHP. A third vehicle, a 2020 Infiniti, operated by another 19-year-old man, was hit by debris from the crash.
The Maywood man was killed in the crash. His two passengers – a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl – suffered major injuries in the crash.
The 51-year-old woman also sustained major injuries. All three patients were hospitalized.
The 51-year-old woman was arrested for driving the wrong way.
