2 Dead, 4 Injured in Head-on Collision at SR-70 and Boyer Road in Marysville

, CA – Two people are dead and four others, including two children, are injured following a head-on traffic collision on Highway 70 in Marysville Friday afternoon.

The deadly two-vehicle collision happened at about 3:15 p.m. in the area of Highway 70 and Boyer Road.

According to CHP, a Toyota Camry, operated by an 18-year-old man, was traveling southbound on Highway 70 when, for some reason, the driver lost control of the car and the Camry crossed into the northbound lanes where it collided with a Honda CR-V head-on.

Authorities said the driver of the CR-V, a 41-year-old man, died at the scene. A 34-year-old woman in the CR-V was transported to a hospital where she died.  Two children in the CR-V were hospitalized. CHP said a 4-year-old boy had critical injuries while an 8-year-old girl had minor injuries.

The driver of the Camry and his passenger, an 18-year-old woman, were also hospitalized with major injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Highway 70 was shut down for about two hours during the investigation.
