2 Flown to Hospitals After Crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy in Sierra Vista

Sierra , Ariz. – Two people were airlifted to hospitals after a two-vehicle collision that happened Wednesday afternoon in Sierra Vista, the Sierra Vista Police Department said.

The wreck occurred on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway near Avenida Escuela.

Police said a driver was traveling westbound on Martin Luther King when they attempted to make a left turn into the Lowe's parking lot. The driver failed to yield to an eastbound vehicle, causing a crash.

The driver of the eastbound car was airlifted to Banner – University Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

The driver who failed to yield was also airlifted to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

The roadway remained closed until around 4:50 p.m. following the accident.

An investigation is ongoing.
