2 Hospitalized after Car Accident on State Route 40 in Barstow

, Calif. – Two people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 40 in Barstow Thursday evening.

The California Highway Patrol said the incident happened at around 7:47 p.m. on State Route 40.

Responding crews said Type 6 Fire Engine collided rear-ended a semi- on the highway in unclear circumstances.

Two involved in the accident were transported to the hospital with serious injuries for treatment.

The identities of the victims were not immediately released.

More details about the collision were not provided.
