Whatcom County, Wash. – Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle collision involving a Whatcom County Sheriff's Car near an intersection in Whatcom County Tuesday morning.
The Washington State Patrol said the accident happened at around 8:10 a.m. near East Axton and Hannegan Roads.
Reportedly, a civilian driver involved was traveling eastbound on East Axton Road and drove through a stop sign. The deputy was driving southbound on Hannegan Road and struck the other vehicle.
Both drivers were hospitalized at Peace Health St. Joseph Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Sections of East Axton and Hannegan roads were closed for several hours during the crash investigation but have since reopened.
