Two Hurt in Shasta County Accident on Highway 299 near Buckhorn Summit

Shasta County, California (August 19, 2022) – Two people were injured in a traffic collision involving a big rig in Shasta County on Thursday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was between a small sedan and a big rig carrying water and occurred just before 6:33 p.m. August 18, on near Buckhorn Summit.

According to the report, the sedan was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with the big rig.

The big rig burst into flames following the collision.

One person had to be extricated from the wreckage of the crash. 

Two helicopters were requested to transport two patients. One of the patients was reportedly in critical condition.

The CHP is investigating to determine the cause of the incident.
