2 Hurt in Contra Costa Accident on Interstate 680 Freeway near Pacheco Boulevard
Contra Costa, California (August 19, 2022) – Two persons were hurt following a big rig collision on Wednesday morning in Contra Costa County.
According to a California Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred a while before 7:45 a.m. on August 17, on Interstate 680 Freeway near Pacheco Boulevard.
Per the dispatch, a semi-truck and four other cars crashed for reasons yet to be determined. The big rigs were jackknifed following the accident.
The semi-truck's fuel tank was damaged due to the crash, causing a small amount of diesel to spill on the roadway.
Emergency crews and medical personnel arrived at the crash site and attended to two persons with minor injuries due to the accident. The names of the patients and their current condition were not provided.
Authorities closed southbound Interstate 680 lanes for several hours due to the accident.
An investigation is ongoing.
