2 Injured in Chain-Reaction Collision on 680 Freeway near San Ramon

, Calif. – Two people were hospitalized after a chain-reaction collision that happened Tuesday evening on a freeway in San Ramon, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The pileup occurred around 7:51 p.m. on the northbound near the Livorna Road off-ramp.

Reportedly, an unknown metal debris was in traffic lanes when several vehicles ran over it and caused a chain-reaction collision involving about five vehicles.

One person got trapped inside their car.

San Ramon firefighters responded to the scene to help those involved in the crash.

The firefighters transported two parties to John Muir Health Creek Medical Center for treatment.  One patient complained of pain to the upper body, and the other complained of pain to the arm.

CHP officers are investigating the cause of the accident.
