Man, Woman Hurt in Ocean Beach Crash on Voltaire Street

Ocean Beach, CA – A man and a woman were injured in a motorcycle collision in Ocean Beach on Tuesday afternoon, the San Diego Police Department said.

The accident took place in the 5100 block of Voltaire Street at about 4:30 p.m. May 21.

Police said a 2016 Honda CRV was traveling westbound on Voltaire Street when it stopped for a stop sign at Bacon Street and was rear-ended by a 2024 BMW motorcycle driven by a 42-year-old man.

The motorcycle burst into flames after the crash and the motorcyclist had major burns to his body.

A passenger on the motorcycle, a 38-year-old woman, was ejected from the motorcycle and was taken to a hospital with a pelvic fracture and a cut to her scalp.

The driver of the Honda reportedly complained of pain.

Police said DUI is suspected to have played a role in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
