, California (September 15, 2021) – Two people were killed Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash in , according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened at around 8:26 p.m. Thursday, September 9, on at Avenue.

The CHP said a 2003 Honda was entering southbound Highway 99 from Tulare Avenue when the driver lost control and went directly into the path of a 2015 Volvo big rig that was heading southbound on Highway 99 in the No. 2 lane at 55 mph, driven by Soroosh Lankarani.

Lankarani was unable to stop in time and hit the driver's side of the Honda.

The female driver of the Honda and her passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the victims have not been disclosed pending notification of their respective families.

Lankarani did not suffer any injuries in the accident.

It is undetermined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision. The crash prompted the authorities to temporarily close one lane of northbound Highway 99.
