2 Killed in Chino Valley Crash on State Route 89 and Road 3 South Identified

Valley, Ariz. – The two people killed in a Saturday afternoon collision in Chino Valley have been identified as 72-year-old Saundra Deiley and 85-year-old Richard Deiley.

Three other people were injured in the accident that occurred just after 3 p.m. Saturday on and Road 3 South.

Authorities said the crash involved a Mercury sedan and a Subaru SUV.

According to Chino Valley police, Saundra was driving the sedan westbound on East Road 3, with Richard as her passenger, when she turned left onto the southbound lanes of SR-89. By so doing, she moved directly into the path of the SUV, which was traveling northbound.

The SUV hit the driver's side door of the sedan.

Saundra and Richard, both Chino Valley residents, were taken to the hospital in critical condition, but both later died.

The SUV was occupied by a 44-year-old woman and her two small children, all from Chino Valley. They were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators do not believe speed or impairment played a role in the accident.
