Mason County, Wash. – Two people were killed and a trooper was injured in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 101 in Mason County Saturday afternoon.
The Washington State Police said the collision happened at around 2:30 p.m. on State Route 101 near Taylor Towne.
Reports indicated that the trooper was traveling southbound on the highway when a car turned off from southeast Lynch Road onto the highway and was hit by a trooper's car.
A man and woman in their 60s were pronounced dead at the scene.
The trooper was taken to the hospital as a precaution with minor injuries.
The incident impacted the highway for several hours.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
