Two Killed in Cerritos Car Crash on 605 Freeway near South Street
Cerritos, California (February 18, 2022) – Two people died in a wrong-way collision in Cerritos early Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 2:18 a.m., A red Hyundai was reportedly stopped along the southbound 605 Freeway when the driver made a U-turn and traveled northbound.
The Hyundai collided head-on with a southbound car.
The collision happened near South Street.
2 Drivers Killed in Cerritos Wrong-Way Crash on 605 Freeway
CHP said the two vehicles burst into flames following the collision.
A Good Samaritan passing by the scene stopped and extricated a woman from one of the cars.
The Good Samaritan performed CPR on the woman but she succumbed to her injuries to the scene.
The second motorist also died at the scene of the accident.
An investigation into the collision is underway.
