Driver, Passenger Killed in Cajon Pass Crash on Interstate 15 near Oak Hill Road

Cajon Pass, California (December 1, 2021) – A fiery traffic collision has claimed the lives of two men early Wednesday morning on a freeway in the Cajon Pass, authorities said.
The 4:04 a.m. tragic accident took place on the northbound side of Interstate 15 Freeway, about two miles south of Oak Hill Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 47-year-old Apple Valley man was driving his vehicle on northbound I-15 Freeway when he failed to notice a Mitsubishi that had stopped in the no. 2 lane.
The Apple Valley man then rear-ended the Mitsubishi. The impact caused the Mitsubishi to catch fire.
Deadly Rear-End Collision in Cajon Pass
The driver of the Mitsubishi was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 60-year-old Los Angeles man, who was riding as a passenger in the Mitsubishi, was seriously injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The identities of the deceased have not been released pending notification of their respective families.
Authorities issued a Sig-Alert, blocking the no. 1 and 2 lanes which lasted until 7:36 a.m.
