2 Passengers Killed in DUI Crash in Miramar Identified

Miramar, CA –  Two passengers who were killed in a DUI traffic collision on Freeway Near Miramar earlier this month have been identified as Daniel Vicente Delgadillo, 26, and Alexa Pauline Lavigne, 24, both from , according to the Medical Examiner's Office.

According to the Medical Examiner's Office, Daniel Delgadillo and Alexa Lavigne were killed in a chain reaction that occurred just before 2:45 a.m. on March 16 on the 15 Freeway near Miramar Way

Authorities say Delgadillo and Lavigne were passengers in a northbound Honda Civic. The Honda sedan rear-ended a Toyota 4-Runner and the impact caused the Honda to veer into other traffic lanes where it was struck by a Chevrolet pickup .

Both Delgadillo and Lavigne were ejected from the Honda and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the Honda and the Chevrolet, identified as Esteban and Joseph Martin respectively, were both arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol/and or drugs. The two drivers were booked into San Diego County Jail.

Miramar, Calif. — Two people were killed and two drivers were arrested on suspicion of DUI  in a three-vehicle traffic collision on a 15 Freeway in Miramar, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday, March 16, on northbound Interstate 15, just south of Miramar Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to the CHP, a Honda Civic, driven by Esteban Coronado, 25, was traveling northbound on 15 Freeway when it struck the back of a Toyota 4-Runner, driven by a San Diego man. The Honda was then struck by a Chevrolet Colorado driven by Joseph Michael Martin, 22, of Sun City.

CHP officials say two passengers in the Honda were declared dead at the scene. The names of the victims will be released by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office after next of kin notification.

Reportedly, Coronado and Joseph Martin were both arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol/and or drugs. The two drivers were booked into San Diego County Jail.

All northbound lanes of the freeway were impacted for approximately three and a half hours as officers investigated the incident.

The incident remains under investigation.
