2 Injured in Three-Vehicle Collision on Balfour Road in Brentwood

, CA. – Two men were seriously injured in a DUI collision that happened Tuesday night at an intersection in Brentwood, police said.

The pileup was reported around 9:26 p.m. on westbound Balfour Road at McViking Way.

According to investigators, 26-year-old Zachary Rau, of , was reportedly speeding westbound on Balfour Road in a Chevrolet Silverado when he collided with a Toyota RAV4 driven by a 31-year-old Brentwood man.

The Toyota then hit a Honda HRV driven by a 37-year-old Brentwood man.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene shortly after the crash.

The driver of the Toyota was found trapped inside the car unconscious and unresponsive. He was extricated and airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries. He was hospitalized in an unstable condition.

A 26-year-old Antioch man, who was a passenger in Rau's vehicle, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.

The Honda driver was not hurt.

Rau was also hospitalized with minor injuries. He was then arrested and booked into the Detention Facility on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, causing injury.

The Brentwood Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the accident.
