Phoenix, Ariz. – Two people were hospitalized with severe injuries following a collision involving a fuel tanker in West Phoenix, early Thursday morning.
The collision happened at around 2 a.m. on Interstate 10 near 51st Avenue exit, according to the Phoenix police.
Police say a sedan ran a red light and crashed into a fuel tanker that was making a turn at the intersection.
The impact of the crash caused the vehicles to burst into flames.
Two people inside the sedan were able to get out of the burning car and were rushed to a nearby hospital with major injuries.
The fuel tanker had no fuel at the time of the crash and the driver was not hurt.
Police believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
