2 Women Injured in DUI Crash at Carver Road and Briggsmore Avenue in Modesto

, California (January 20, 2022) – Two women were seriously injured early Sunday morning following an alleged DUI car crash in Modesto.

Modesto police said the crash happened at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, January 16, in the area of Carver Road and Briggsmore Avenue.

A witness told the police that a red Chevrolet Camaro was heading northbound on Carver Road at approximately 90 miles per hour when the driver allegedly ran a red light and struck a Nissan Maxima that was traveling eastbound on Briggsmore Avenue.

Major Injury Traffic Collision in Modesto

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated the passenger of the Camaro, a 35-year-old woman, who was trapped in the wreckage. She sustained major injuries.

The Nissan driver, a 69-year-old Modesto woman, also sustained major injuries in the crash.

The driver of the Camaro, Michael Amie, 47, of Modesto, was unhurt and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The crash remains under investigation.
