, California (May 22, 2022) – A cab hit three pedestrians, killing two at the scene after it collided with another vehicle Sunday afternoon at an intersection in San Francisco, authorities said.

According to San Francisco police, the accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. at Third Street and Mission Street, in the South of Market district.

Police said a taxi cab crashed into another vehicle for unknown reasons, then went onto a sidewalk outside of a business and struck three pedestrians.

2 Women Killed in Taxi Cab Collision in San Francisco

Two of the pedestrians were pronounced dead at the scene. They were only identified as women, both from San Francisco. The third was hospitalized with unspecified injuries. He was only identified as a male party.

The taxi cab driver was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are trying to establish what caused the vehicles to crash but do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.
