Different Scenarios and Factors Can Contribute to Interstate Traffic Collisions in California
- Rear-end collisions: These accidents occur when one vehicle hits the back of another vehicle, usually because the driver did not maintain a safe distance or was distracted.
- Lane-changing accidents: Accidents can happen when a vehicle changes lanes without checking blind spots or using proper signaling, resulting in a collision with a vehicle in the adjacent lane.
- Merge-related accidents: These accidents occur when vehicles entering or exiting the interstate fail to yield or merge correctly, leading to a collision with a vehicle already on the highway.
- Sideswipe accidents: Sideswipe accidents happen when two vehicles traveling parallel to each other collide, often because the driver did not check their mirrors or maintain a safe distance.
- Intersection accidents: Interstates often intersect with other highways, roads, or ramps, and accidents can occur at these intersections due to factors such as failure to yield, running red lights, or improper lane changes by other vehicles.
- Failure to obey traffic signals: Accidents can occur on interstates when drivers fail to obey traffic signals, such as running red lights or stop signs.
- Distracted driving accidents: Accidents can happen when drivers are distracted by activities such as texting, talking on the phone, or using electronic devices while driving on interstates.
