3 Hospitalized after Car Collides with Towed Boat on 5 Freeway near Palomar Street
Chula Vista, California (October 24, 2021) – Three people were injured after a car crashed into a boat that had fallen off a trailer on a freeway near San Diego Bay in Chula Vista on Monday morning.
The accident happened at about 12:30 a.m. on northbound 5 Freeway near Palomar Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 2004 Mercedes-Benz E320 was traveling on the freeway when it crashed into a 30-foot boat lying in the roadway.
Two people in the Mercedes were seriously injured in the accident and were transported to UCSD Medical Center with major trauma.
The driver of the car, a 48-year-old Spring Valley man, was hospitalized with less serious injuries.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the accident is ongoing.
