, California (June 8, 2022) – 60-year-old Susie Swanson succumbed to her injuries following a Friday afternoon collision involving a fire in Victorville.

The fatal crash happened at around 3 p.m. on June 3, at the intersection of La Road and Amethyst Road near Liberty Elementary School.

The California Highway Patrol said Susie was among the three occupants of a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer that slammed into a Victorville Fire Medic Squad truck.

The Victorville woman was seriously injured in the crash and was flown to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.

A firefighter and the other two occupants of the Chevy were transported as a precaution to Desert Valley Hospital.

Additional information about the crash was not provided.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Victorville Police Department.

Victorville, California (June 4, 2022) – Three people were injured in a Friday afternoon traffic accident involving a Victorville Fire Medic Squad truck in Victorville, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 3:00 p.m., on June 3, at the intersection of Road and Amethyst Road near Liberty Elementary School.

According to the officials, a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer with three occupants collided with the Victorville Fire Medic Squad truck at the intersection for undetermined reasons.

First responders arrived at the scene and extricated one person who was trapped in the wreckage.

Three people were injured in the accident. One person was flown to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. The other two were taken to hospital by a ground ambulance to Desert Valley Hospital.

More details regarding the mishap were not immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.

Traffic Collision Fatalities Reached a 16-Year High in 2021, Early Estimates Show

Newly released estimates by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that fatalities reached a 16-year high last year.

According to the Early Estimate of Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities in 2021 report released by NHTSA, about 42,915 people were killed in traffic collisions in 2021. This shows a 10.5% increase from the 38,828 fatalities reported in 2020. NHTSA says the projection is the highest number of traffic deaths since 2005 as well as the largest percentage rise in the history of the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.

The report indicates that the traffic fatalities in the following categories showed relatively large increases in 2021, as compared to 2020;

      • Fatalities in multi-vehicle collisions went up 16%
      • Fatalities among drivers 65 and older rose by 14%
      • fatalities up 13%
      • Fatalities in crashes involving at least one large truck up 13%
      • Daytime fatalities up 11% Fatalities on urban roads up 16%
      • Motorcyclist deaths up 9% Bicyclist deaths up 5%
      • Fatalities in speeding-related mishaps up 5%
      • Fatalities in police-reported, alcohol-involvement collisions up 5%
